Mayor and Wharangi
Conor Hill to run for Mayor and Wharangi
Conor Hill today made his campaign official, nominating for both Mayor and Wharangi/Onslow-Western ward.
Conor Hill said "It's an honour and a privilege to run for Mayor of this great city. I believes homes should be affordable, transport should be reliable and that vanity projects should be cancelled. I believe a warm dry home is a human right, and should take precedence over golf, landlord profits, or arbitrary council rules. I want to see quality public transport, streets safe for everybody, and a city people can move around. The Central Library, Wellington’s democratic heart, must take precedence over a convention centre or an airport runway extension.
On his decision to run for Wharangi, Hill said "While I am confident in my campaign for Mayor, I also want to give the people in my local ward an opportunity to vote for a positive change, rather than the flip flopping our sitting councillors indulge in. People in this ward deserve a candidate who will vote their conscience, who will stand firm in the face of pressure, and whose opinions don't change come electoral season. They deserve a candidate who will fight for issues that they can influence, rather than grandstand on things they have no control over. They deserve a candidate who will vote for our city's heart rather than for needless vanity projects. A vote for me is a vote for a better Wellington."
